Help Your Child Vote!
Voting is now open for the 2024 Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award. Every child in Indiana ages 0 – 5 may vote one time to help choose the winner.
This year’s Firefly nominees are:
The five books were selected through a nomination process by youth librarians who work in Indiana schools or libraries.
How to Read the Books
Read the books with your child. You can find all five books in our catalog. Also, all five books are available at the Youth Department reference desk at the Zionsville Branch. You can borrow them to read while you’re here, then return them to the desk for others to enjoy.
You can also watch and listen to someone else read the books online through links provided by the Indiana State Library.
How to Vote
After you read the books, ask your child to point to the one they like best, then fill out a ballot in one of two ways.
- You can print your own paper ballot, or pick one up at our Zionsville Branch, and then return it to the Zionsville Branch so we can tally your votes and send them to the Indiana Center for the Book.
- You can vote online through the Indiana Center for the Book’s online ballot.
In person and online voting ends July 31. Find out more about the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award and past winners by visiting the Indiana Center for the Book website.
