OPEN POSITIONS

Director of Marketing & Communications

 

As the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will lead HMMPL’s marketing efforts and serve as the library’s brand champion. You will shape and implement a modern marketing strategy, strengthen the library’s storytelling and communications, and enhance understanding of customer needs. This role oversees all marketing and communication initiatives, ensuring that HMMPL’s brand, partnerships, and community outreach consistently reflect the library’s vision, image, and values.

We are actively seeking applicants with the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required
  • 3+ years of progressive management experience in marketing, brand strategy, communications, or related fields
  • Experience leading marketing in a multi-stakeholder environment (library, public sector, nonprofit, higher ed, or civic organization experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated success building or applying audience insights, digital strategy, and performance measurement
  • Experience managing creative, content, and channel teams (including external partners/agencies)
  • Experience building modern marketing capabilities such as segmentation, analytics, content strategy, and integrated planning approaches

Page Supervisor

We are seeking a part-time (25 hrs. per week) Page Supervisor who will oversee branch Page and Library Aide staff while also serving as a primary point of contact for patrons, contributing to a positive atmosphere by providing exceptional customer service to HMMPL patrons. This position engages in a range of responsibilities, including supervising Page and Library Aide work activities, helping with material transit oversight, supporting library staff, material check-ins and outs, holds management, library card registration, and resolution of account inquiries. Additionally, this role serves as a Person-In-Charge (PIC) in the absence of the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
  • Indiana Public Library Certification(or the ability to obtain a temporary permit or certification within six months of hire)
  • Supervisory Experience (at least three years)
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire)

Roving Public Service Associate

This position is a newly created and strategic role within HMMPL, designed to provide flexible, system-wide support where it is needed most. Although the position will be based at the Zionsville Branch, it will operate as a mobile resource, traveling to the location experiencing the greatest staffing need. In addition, the person in this role will be occasionally scheduled to represent the Library at community events, ensuring consistent service across all branches and outreach efforts. This position requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekend shifts.

The Roving Public Service Associate is a part-time (20-25 hrs. per week) position and will serve as the primary point of contact for patrons, contributing to a positive atmosphere through providing exceptional customer service to patrons. Working primarily at the public service desks, they will engage in a range of responsibilities, including material check-ins and outs, holds management, library card registration, and resolution of account inquiries.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills for effective interaction with patrons and team members.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Windows with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Previous experience in customer service and working as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and maintain order.
  • Sensitivity to diverse patron needs and a commitment to promoting inclusivity.
  • Experience with the Dewey Decimal System and Integrated Library Systems preferred.
