Jan 09, 2025 Let’s Read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
While reading is an essential tool for success, instilling a love of reading plants seeds of happiness that last a lifetime. Reading with a child is a wonderful way to bond and create cherished memories, and it’s never too early to start! Some parents begin reading to their children before they are born.
Thanks to a grant from the Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, and in partnership with 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Foundation, we can help parents and caregivers navigate the path to literacy. Join the challenge on Beanstack and record the books that you read with your child. Stop by the reference desk in the Children’s Department of the Whitestown or Zionsville branch to receive a special reading log, filled with instructions, tips, and space for special stickers to mark every 100 books read. There’s a special prize for finishing the challenge! The log also serves as a keepsake of your child’s early reading progress.
Reading 1000 books may seem like a hefty task, but one book per day for five years totals 1825 – and that doesn’t count leap days! Get started today!
