Keeping your health in mind

COVID-19 Information & your Library

As more Coronavirus COVID-19 cases are confirmed in Central Indiana, we want to share the steps the Library is taking to address your concerns. At this time, we are using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for businesses, which include:

  • Increased cleaning measures
  • Routine use of disinfectants on frequently used surfaces
  • Posted information about good respiratory hygiene & proper hand washing techniques
  • Tissues at public desks to cover coughs & sneezes
  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the building
  • New sanitation stations installed at each Library entrance with tissues & hand sanitizer
  • Disinfectant wipes near public computers for visitor use
  • Library staff & visitors are asked to stay home if they are ill or have a fever

Should I Visit the Library?

If you and your family are well and haven’t been exposed to someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, YES, drop in and checkout materials or attend an event.

If you or someone you’ve had contact within the last 14 days is exhibiting flu-like symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control and the Indiana State Department of Health recommend that you stay home. Seniors and those with compromised immune systems should take everyday precautions to keep space between themselves and others according to CDC guidelines. Stay home when you can, but when you do visit public spaces, stay away from those who are sick, limit close contact & avoid crowds.

While you stay home, we will be happy to help you with additional renewals on your Library materials. Call our Circulation Dept. at 317-873-8340 or send us a quick email.

What Should I do if I have Symptoms?

If are experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath, & have a recent history of travel to an area experiencing community spread or had contact with someone suspected of having COVID-19, the ISDH recommends you contact their Epidemiology Resource Center at 317-233-7125 or after hours:317-233-1325 or e-mail epiresource@isdh.in.gov. The ISDH can then direct you to a hospital that is properly prepared for your arrival and can provide the appropriate testing.
