HUSSEY-MAYFIELD MEMORIAL PUBLIC LIBRARY FAQ

WHICH LIBRARIES WILL ACCEPT MY CARD?

Our Library is a member of Evergreen Indiana, a consortium of more than 100 libraries located throughout Indiana. The list of Evergreen Indiana member libraries that accept an HMMPL library card can be found here.

HOW MANY ITEMS CAN I CHECK OUT?

100 items total, 10 of which may be DVDs or Blu-Rays.

DOES THE LIBRARY OFFER FREE WIFI?

Yes. To access the free Wi-Fi on your device, locate and select the ZPL-Public network. A pop-up window will prompt you to click the orange “Agree & Connect” button.

USING THE COMPUTER LAB FAQ

WHO CAN USE COMPUTERS?

The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library allows all patrons, regardless of age or residency, to access the internet while in the Library. You must have an active Library card or computer use card and password.

CAN PARENTS LIMIT CHILDREN'S INTERNET USE?

Parents of minors, (children 17 and younger) who do not want their child using the internet, or to use it with adult supervision, must enforce this with their minor children. The Library is not responsible for monitoring internet use by minors.

IS INTERNET USE FILTERED?

Filtering software is used on all Library computers. Unfortunately, no filter is 100% effective. The best and most reliable filter for a minor is the presence of a parent or guardian.

CAN INTERNET PRIVILEGES BE REVOKED?

Yes, the Library reserves the right to revoke privileges in the event of a computer usage or internet usage violation. Please visit our Internet policies for more information.

CAN I PRINT FROM THE LIBRARY?

Yes, the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library offers printing services at the rate of $0.10 per sheet of paper. Copies are also $0.10 for black and white and $0.20 for duplex and color pages. See the full pricing sheet for more information.

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT ON INTERNET USAGE?

Initial use of an internet station is 120 minutes on a first come first serve basis. Additional use will be allowed based on availability and open workstations. Read the full policy for Internet use here.

STUDY & MEETING ROOM FAQ

HOW DO I REQUEST A ROOM?

To request a room, use our ‘Spaces’ software. Put in a request from your home computer or mobile devices with this user-friendly program.

HOW DO I CREATE A SPACES ACCOUNT?

To reserve a room, you need to set up an account. To create an account, follow this link and click ‘login’. Use your Library card number and pin to create an account. NOTE: Your Library card number/pin is the same number you would use to log in to any of our online services.

WHEN SHOULD I REQUEST A RESERVATION?

Rooms can only be reserved 2-3 months in advance. After you have reserved a room, you may log in at any time to check the status of the room, change, edit or delete your request.

WHAT DO I INCLUDE IN MY REQUEST?

Upon making your request, please include your selection of the date, start and end times, and be sure to include any setup or clean up time.

GETTING A LIBRARY CARD FAQ

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A CARD?

Library cards are available to qualified applicants. Applicants under the age of 18 require the approval of a parent or legal guardian present at the Library with the minor. A photo ID of the adult applicant or the parent/guardian of an applicant under the age of 18. IDs with the correct street address must be presented at the time of application.

WHAT TYPE OF CARD CAN I GET?

Evergreen Indiana Resident Card: There is no charge for this card. Residents of Eagle and Union Township are eligible for this card. Property owners who own real estate or personal property in Eagle or Union Townships, but do not live in the district are also eligible.

Temporary Resident Card: There is no charge for this card and it is available for residents living in the Library district for a period of less than one year and foreign exchange students living in the district.

CAN I REGISTER FOR A CARD ONLINE?

Yes, to register online, fill out this application. Please bring identification with you on your next visit to the Library with your current address.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH A LIBRARY CARD?

Your Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library card gives you access to our collection of books as well as movies, music CDs, videos, audiobooks, computers with internet, eBooks and online content you can access from home and much more!

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET A CARD?

Everyone can get a Library card! However, if you are under the age of 18, you will need a parent or guardian with a valid ID when picking up your card.

HMMPL2GO Outreach Services FAQ

WHAT OUTREACH SERVICES ARE OFFERED?

Let us bring the Library to you!  In order to eliminate barriers and seamlessly connect our community to Library services, we offer the following outreach services:

  • The Bookmobile is our rolling library that holds bestsellers, large print books, children’s books, and more! You can pick up holds, check out items and return materials at a location close to you, even sign up for a Library card.
  • Our Homebound delivery service, Books to Go, meets the needs of patrons who cannot access our Library building or the Bookmobile.
  • Library Day is a service provided for independent-living and assisted-living facilities. Materials are placed on carts and brought inside the facility for browsing.
HOW DO I REQUEST OUTREACH SERVICES?

Bookmobile visits, Homebound delivery services or Library Day visits to your facility can be requested by completing our HMMPL2GO Outreach Services form.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY FAQ

WHO ARE THE FRIENDS?

The friends of the HMMPL support the Library through donations. Since 1978 the Friends have donated more than $400,000 to purchase basic and special items to make the Library a special destination for all ages.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?

New members are always welcome! The annual dues for an individual are $15 per year. To become a member, please fill out the application and bring it with you to the Library.

CAN I DONATE?

Everyone can help the Friends through donations of gently used books, books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs. Donations may be dropped off at the Library and placed just inside the staff entrance, Door #4, on the Sixth Street side of the building or in the donation box just inside the main entrance, Door #1, on Fifth Street. Staff at the Circulation Desk in the main lobby, if requested, will issue receipts.

HOW ELSE CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Yes, you can make a donation to the Library using your credit card. Follow this link and donate online today!

WHAT CAN I DONATE?

We accept gently used books, books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs. Please visit the Friends of the Library page for more information on donation guidelines. If you are considering donating other items like business machines, computers, printers, craft items, toys, or anything else, please contact the library prior to donation.

HOW DO I PURCHASE A BOOK IN HONOR OF SOMEONE?

You may donate a gift amount to be used to purchase a book or other item in honor of a person or event. Please use the Library donation form to capture all of the pertinent information. Once complete, this form may be dropped off at the Library with your donation or mailed to the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, 250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville, IN 46077.
