December 2, 2022 – Explore photos of this month’s progress on the construction of the HMMPL Whitestown Branch.
November 29, 2022 – The Central Indiana Academy of Dance joined us at the Library for a Ballet Storytime of The Nutcracker. Children enjoyed stories, songs, and of course, dancing!
Check out the dozens of baskets in this year’s Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library Silent Auction held in conjunction with the Secret Snowflake Shop. Baskets are on display and receiving bids through 5 p.m. Sun., Dec. 4, 2022.
November 18, 2022 – Miss Molly from the Zionville Nature Center joined HMMPL Librarians Miss Andrea and Miss Michelle to talk about animals that hibernate through read-aloud stories, rhymes and activities.
November 14, 2022 – Our young patrons spent the evening trying out various STEM stations, including Snap Circuits, CODE Mouse, Kamigami, Boxels, Little Bits Star Wars Droid, Cubelets, Dash Robot, Lego WeDo and more. Laura, our MakerStudio Specialist, also demonstrated one of our 3D printers.
October 26, 2022 – Community leaders, Library board members and staff, and members of the Worth Branch Advisory Group gathered at the HMMPL Whitestown Branch construction site to sign a steel beam that will be installed and remain visible in a mechanical room in the new building.
October 24, 2022 – Preschool families spent the morning reading books about animals and learning new words in English and Spanish. They also made a hipopótamo, or hippopotamus, puppet.
October 7, 2022 – Participants met at Elm Street Green to read the book Walter’s Wonderful Web by Tim Hopgood. The children also learned more about spiders and the good work they do in our world.
September 20, 2022 – Several students in grades K – 2 participated in our first After-School Squad event to read Bob Shea’s “Crash, splash, or moo!” and play a few life-sized games.
September 14, 2022 – During one of our bilingual storytimes, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, sang songs and enjoyed a craft in Chinese and English with a special guest.
September 12, 2022 – Children in grades k-5 and their families spent the evening learning about the Korean holiday of Chuseok from our special guests Joo-Yun Kim and her son Joshua. There were stories, games and Choco Pies!
September 1, 2022 – Mr. Mike our Train Guy participated in storytimes and crafts with many of the children who love to visit him at our model train set, which he designs, maintains and operates for the Library.
August 31, 2022 – Youth Librarians bring their favorite books and characters to the stage. Miss Julie is Piggie, Miss Kelli is Gerald the Elephant, Miss Michelle is the Pigeon and Miss Robyn is the Snake.
August 18, 2022 – Children brought their teddy bears and other stuffed friends to the library for a special storytime and then left them with the librarians for an adventure-filled slumber party.
August 5, 2022 – Participants met at Elm Street Green for the StoryWalk with Miss Julie featuring the book How Big is the World by Britta Teckentrup. Naturalist Molly from the Zionsville Nature Center also led an activity.
August 2, 2022 – Kiddos and their caregivers dropped in to the Library for some fine motor fun! This program featured several stations focusing on fine motor skills practice, such as cutting, stamping, stacking, gluing, stringing and coloring!
