The Whitestown Branch Grand Opening Celebration has been POSTPONED. We will share a new date as soon as it’s available.
Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library’s second location in Whitestown will open Saturday, March 16 at 10 AM with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration. The much-anticipated opening of the branch will be the public’s first opportunity to see, explore and use the new building at 6310 E. Albert S. White Drive, Whitestown. We look forward to seeing many community members at this fun celebration!
Several activities will take place with only one requiring registration, the Teddy Bear Symphony concert at 11 AM. Make your plans to attend and enjoy the festivities!
10 AM – Key speakers, ribbon-cutting, and official photo
10:30 AM – Doors will open to the public.
10:30 AM – 2 PM – Guided building tours will highlight key areas of the building and participants will be able to pick up a variety of Library swag in each area visited. The tours will end at the HMMPL Friends of the Library book sale area where they can enjoy free snacks and drinks while learning how to get involved with this fun group of volunteers.
10:30 AM – 2 PM – MakerStudio technology demonstrations. Explore endless possibilities with inspiring new equipment, including a laser-cutter, 3D printer, and much more.
11 AM – Teddy Bear Symphony concert in the Community Room. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents the Teddy Bear Series program, The Runaway Strings! Young children are invited to move along to live music as they listen to the story of four strings instruments that form themselves into a rocket, train, bicycle, and more to look for adventures! Registration is required and opens Friday, February 16.
11 AM – 2 PM – Visit therapy dogs, Pearl, Clover and Groban.
11:30 AM – Author Angie Karcher will share her stories in the Youth area.
12:30 PM – Drop by the Teen Room to draw with local author and illustrator Rob Harrell. He will share information about his many books while drawing some of his fun story characters.
12:30 – 1:30 PM – Village Dance Studio dancers will present mini performances in the Youth Department.
1 – 2 PM – Game On, a drop-in table gaming program for teens and adults presented by gaming enthusiast Josh Morgan. Join the fun in the community room.
1:30 PM – Local author Laura Martin will discuss her novels and help visitors create their own bookmarks in the Teen Room.
