Hygge: A Cozy Winter Reading Program

Hygge: A Cozy Winter Reading program starts Dec. 1 and runs through Jan. 31 for readers of all ages. Registration is now open.

Readers will earn a registration badge just for signing up in Beanstack and will receive a small gift that includes a choice of a hot chocolate, cider or tea packet. Just stop by one of the Library reference desks once you’ve registered and select your gift.

To complete the program, readers must read and log at least 20 minutes a day for 21 days or more between Dec. 1, 2023, and Jan. 31, 2024. Those that do will receive one entry in our Grand Prize drawing of either a membership to the Indiana State Museum, with benefits for up to two adults sharing the same household and all children under age 21, or a membership to Newfields, with benefits for up to two adults and all children under age 17.

Those who complete the program also will receive a pair of Eclipse solar-viewing glasses* (while supplies last), just in time for the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. Prizes can be picked up at one of the reference desks once readers have completed and logged the required reading.

Readers also can earn a chance to win one of our cozy book bundles! For each day after 21 days that you read and log at least 20 minutes, you’ll receive one virtual ticket. Readers can earn up to 10 virtual tickets. Those virtual tickets can then be entered in a drawing in Beanstack for a chance to win one of several book bundles. All drawing winners will be announced after Jan. 31, 2024, when our Winter Reading Program ends.

Also keep an eye on the Library calendar for lots of exciting winter-reading-related programs and events throughout the Library during December and January.

*The solar-viewing glasses are provided by the Space Science Institute through its Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program with funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
