Feb 04, 2026 Join the 1896 Society!
In May 2025, Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library invited guests of our successful Color Our World Gala to join our new 1896 Society as founding members.
The 1896 Society, so named for the $600 gift Joseph B. Pitzer left Eagle Township to establish the township Library in 1896, continues the tradition of giving generously to sustain Library, literacy, lifetime learning, and community in Boone County.
The 39 founding members of the 1896 Society generously committed to a recurring gift in denominations of $1,896.00, $189.60, or $18.60 each year to provide predictable and sustaining support for library service.
This February, we extend an invitation to all in Boone County to join our 1896 Society!
All 1896 Society donors will receive one donor book to display in their favorite area of the Library, an annual donor certificate, an 1896 Society badge for virtual display, and an invitation to our Library Giving Day Book Placement Party this year on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 at our Zionsville Branch.
Locally recognized wood working artist, A.J. Schnell, continues to create lovely donor books, personalized to the donor’s wishes. Andrew is a remarkable artist, a Zionsville resident, and also a meaningful supporter of our Library! See an example here:
