Join the Soulful Journey of Women as they present a conversation between Ida B. Wells and Madam C.J. Walker

October 11 from 2 – 3:30 at the Zionsville Branch.

Celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child by joining a conversation between noted female trailblazers, Ida B. Wells and Madam C.J. Walker, presented by Soulful Journeys of Women.  Soulful Journeys of Women have researched and created a performance of a conversation between Ida B. Wells and Madam C. J. Walker.  Although the conversation is fiction, it is based on details of a meeting memorialized in the autobiography and biography of both women.

Ida B. Wells was an American investigative journalist, sociologist, educator, and early leader in the civil rights movement. She was also one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Wells dedicated her career to combating prejudice and violence, and advocating for African-American equality—especially for women.

Madam C.J. Walker was an American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist. Walker is recorded as the first female self-made millionaire in America in the Guinness Book of World Records

The Soulful Journey of Women’s mission is to educate, inspire, and entertain by portraying the lives of strong women of color who persevered through many obstacles on their path to freedom and independence. Learn more about them at soulfuljourneyofwomen.com.
