Mar 20, 2024 New Date! Whitestown Branch Grand Opening
April 20 from 2 PM to 5 PM
The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees and staff are pleased to be able to announce April 20 as the new date for the Whitestown Branch Grand Opening!
The celebration will begin at 2 PM with speakers, followed by the official ribbon cutting. We look forward to opening our doors at 2:30 PM!
We appreciate the support we have received from the community throughout this project, particularly the outpouring of offers to help after our original grand opening date had to be postponed. It is a pleasure to invite residents to see, explore and use the new Hussey-Mayfield Library – Whitestown Branch at 6310 Albert S. White Drive, Whitestown. We look forward to seeing many of you at this fun celebration!
We will have parking at the branch, as well as, overflow parking available at Main Street Park, 4286 S Main St, Whitestown.
Several activities are being planned and we will add the details here once each event is confirmed. Please make plans now to attend and enjoy the festivities!
2 PM – Key speakers, ribbon-cutting, and official photo
Speakers begin promptly at 2 PM and includes the following special guests:

Katie Barr, Whitestown Town Manager
John Stehr, Zionsville Mayor
Jim Baldwin, Worth Township Trustee
Christina Hage, Library Board President
2:30 PM – Doors will open to the public.
2:30 PM – 5 PM – Guided building tours will highlight key areas of the building and participants will be able to pick up a variety of Library swag in each area visited. The tours will end at the HMMPL Friends of the Library book sale area where they can enjoy free snacks and drinks while learning how to get involved with this fun group of volunteers.
2:30 – 5 PM – MakerStudio technology demonstrations. Explore endless possibilities with inspiring new equipment, including a laser-cutter, 3D printer, and much more.
3 PM – Teddy Bear Symphony concert in Community Room. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents the Teddy Bear Series program, The Runaway Strings! Young children are invited to move along to live music as they listen to the story of four stringed instruments that form themselves into a rocket, train, bicycle, and more to look for adventures. Designed for ages 3-6. Registration required.
3 – 4:30 PM – Therapy dogs will be available to visit in the Reading Room. The schedule is as follows:
- 3 – 3:30 PM – Clover
- 3:30 – 4 PM – Groban
- 4 – 4:30 PM – Pearl
3 – 4 PM – Author Angie Karcher will share her stories in the Children`s Area.
3 – 4:30 PM – Drop by the Teens Area to draw with local author and illustrator Rob Harrell. He will share information about his many books while drawing some of his fun story characters.
We will have activities in the Program Roo.m and a Meet and Greet with the Village Dance Studio dancers during the Grand Opening as well!
