Sensory Bags Provided for Library Visitors by Library Foundation

Thanks to a grant from the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library Foundation, patrons and visitors to the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library now have access to Sensory Bags during Library visits.

Bags are available on both floors, at the 2nd Floor Circulation Desk, the 1st Floor Circulation Desk, and the Youth Department Reference Desk. Anyone wishing to use a bag can ask to “check it out” during their visit and return it to a public desk upon leaving. (Bags are not intended to leave the Library.)

Each Sensory Bag includes the following:

  • 1  5- or 7-lb weighted blanket
  • 1 set of noise cancelling headphones
  • 1 fidget spinner/popper
  • 1 monkey noodle
  • 1 spikey ball

“The Hussey-Mayfield Public Library is always looking for ways to better serve our community and this is a wonderful new resource for our sensory sensitive patrons,” said Sarah Moore, Library Director. “We are excited to share these resources in order to help everyone more fully capitalize on their Library experience. Many thanks to the HMMPL Foundation for providing the grant to fund these bags.”
