This winter, unleash your inner musher and race to read like a team of sled dogs charging across snowy trails! 🐾❄️ As the days grow colder and the nights stretch longer, challenge yourself, your friends and family to sled into stories that spark imagination, fuel curiosity, and warm the soul. Reading isn’t just cozy—it’s a competition worth joining. Now MUSH to the Library, pick your first title, and race to read your way through winter! Don’t forget to record your reading between December 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026!
How It Works
Registration begins Saturday, November 1 through Beanstack, our online reading log. All who register may drop by either Library branch to pick up their first prize, a free hot drink packet.
Participants can then work toward achieving their individual goal of reading 20 minutes a day for 21 days between December 1 and January 31. Once reached, all ages will win a completion prize of a snowman squishy stress ball.
Grand Prize Drawings
Six lucky grand prize winners will have the chance to select from a variety of local activity packages and celebrate their reading achievements. Program participants must complete the reading goal to be eligible for the grand prize:
- Complete the Reading Goal: To qualify, participants must log 20 minutes of reading for 21 days between December 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026. This can include any combination of books, whether fiction, non-fiction, magazines, or audiobooks. Individuals may also record any reading they completed with others.
- Age Group Categories: The prizes will be awarded to two readers, one from each HMMPL Branch, from the following age groups:
- Youth, up to grade 5
- Teens, grades 5 – 12
- Adults, 18 and older
- Selection Process: Winners will be randomly drawn from all participants who complete the Winter Reading goal and record their minutes on Beanstack. Winners will be notified on or after Monday, February 2, 2026.

Winter Reading grand prize winners will get to choose from several entertaining local activity packages, including:
