Each month we highlight one of the dozens of online resources available in our Digital Library Branch through our Digital Service of the Month. For November, we’re featuring Creativebug, which offers unlimited access to thousands of online art and craft classes.
Launch Creativebug from our Digital Branch, and use your Library Card number and email address to set up an account. Then, access Creativebug online or download the Creativebug app to your mobile device or tablet. Once your account is created, if you visit Creativebug by clicking through our Digital Branch, you can simply enter your Library Card number or email address at your next log-in. If you go to Creativebug through the app or without going through the Library’s Digital Branch, then you can enter your email address and the password you set up when creating your account.
Once you’re logged in, Creativebug gives you the option to set your preferences and makes recommendations based on your selections. You can also find classes by browsing the categories in the main menu, or entering keywords in the search bar. For instance, if you’re interested in making decorations or gifts this holiday season, enter “holiday” in the search bar to find tons of classes and inspiration for all your holiday needs, including cookie decorating, wreath making and card designing.
Creativebug also has a collection of daily arts and crafts exercises to help you challenge yourself to a whole month of making! These 30-day prompts are the perfect way to launch a daily creative habit. With over 60 to choose from, that’s more than five years of making!
Finally, Creativebug classes never expire, so you can start and stop projects at your own pace. Return to classes you’ve started in the “Pick up where you left off” section of the homepage. Or add classes of interest to your Watchlist and come back to them when you have time by choosing “My Classes” from the top of the home page.
