Introducing the HMMPL Library of Things

Introducing the HMMPL Library of Things

We have so much more than books at the Library!  Explore the Library of Things, our new collection of fun, non-traditional materials and items available to borrow!  All you need is your HMMPL library card and you are ready to check things out!

A few items we want to highlight in the Library of Things are the 10 new Maker Kits curated by the Library’s Innovation Committee, a partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo for discounted tickets, and just in time for the holidays, borrowable baking pans!

Maker Kits: The Maker Kits give hobby crafters and artists the opportunity to use new tools and supplies they might not otherwise have access to. These maker kits contain all you need to get started learning and exploring a new craft and create a small craft project! The tools need to be returned to the library, but the supplies are yours to keep!  Learn more about the available kits here.

Four giraffesIndianapolis Zoo Discount: We have a special offer for our community through our partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo. By using the Library’s customized link to purchase tickets online, you can save over 30% on admission costs for youth and adults. The discount is even good for special Zoo events, including Zoo Boo and Christmas at the Zoo.

Baking Pans: Bake a special occasion cake or experiment by baking something new with a little help from the Library! You can find a number of baking pans on the second floor in front of the conference hub! These check out for one week, are holdable and will auto-renew one time.  Be courteous – all baking pans should be washed before returning, with a fee incurred if returned dirty.

The Library of Things is made possible through grants and funds from the Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library Foundation, community partnerships, the hard work of our Library staff, and more!
