New at the Library: Maker Kits!

New at the Library: Maker Kits!

The Library now offers Maker Kits for patrons to check out!  Each kit contains everything you need to try a new art or craft technique and create a few masterpieces, including tools, supplies, an introductory video and instructional materials.

Currently, we have 10 different kits available: calligraphy, cross stitch, knit and crochet, papercraft, woodburning, jewelry making, origami, quilling, watercolor and drawing. Additional kits are being planned!  Patrons of all ages can place kits on hold and check them out with their HMMPL Library Card. However, to borrow the woodburning kit, patrons must be 18 or older and sign a release form.

The Maker Kits give hobby crafters and artists the opportunity to use new tools and supplies they might not otherwise have access to.  Special thanks to the Friends of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library for the grant that funded the kits.  Also, thanks to the Library’s Innovation Committee for researching and developing each unique kit!

The Maker Kits are found on shelves just outside the MakerStudio in the nonfiction area of the Library’s second floor. HMMPL library cardholders also can find the Maker Kits in our catalog and place them on hold. Kits are checked out for three weeks, with one possible renewal.
