New Digital Resource: LOTE4Kids

Celebrate culture and language with LOTE4Kids

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of LOTE4Kids for HMMPL patrons, a dynamic new eResource designed to make language learning accessible, engaging, and fun for children. Through LOTE4Kids, young patrons can explore a growing collection of stories in over 50 languages, with English translations for each title. Whether children are nurturing their native language, exploring a second language, or diving into a completely new one, LOTE4Kids helps them learn while enjoying the magic of storytelling.

Getting started is easy! LOTE4Kids can be accessed directly through our website or by downloading the app on your preferred device. We invite parents and children to explore the collection, choose a favorite story, and begin a new language adventure together.

This valuable addition to our digital library was made possible by a generous grant from the Community Impact Fund of the Community Foundation of Boone County. We’re incredibly grateful for their support in helping us bring learning opportunities to every corner of our community.

Why language learning matters for young minds

Learning a new language is more than just words—it’s a gateway to understanding diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives. Studies show that early exposure to multiple languages can boost cognitive development, improve problem-solving skills, and strengthen memory. In a globalized world, being multilingual also empowers young people to connect with others, embrace different cultures, and become lifelong learners.

How HMMPL supports language and literacy

At HMMPL, we are committed to offering resources that reflect and enrich the lives of our community members. LOTE4Kids represents a key part of that mission, helping children develop literacy in both English and their family’s native language or any language they’re eager to explore. Through interactive resources like LOTE4Kids, we aim to bridge cultural divides and bring the joy of reading to every child.
