Aug 28, 2024 Summer Reading Success at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library
The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library’s Summer Reading Program has once again proven to be a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our community and the generous support of local businesses and organizations.
This year’s program saw strong engagement, with readers of all ages diving into books and participating in various Library events. The program not only encouraged a love for reading,
helped school-aged students avoid the “summer slide” but also offered exciting incentives to keep our patrons motivated throughout the summer months.
We’re thrilled with some fantastic prizes that were generously donated by our community partners:
1. Electric Bicycle from e-Boom Electric Bicycle Company
Lee Ann McKay, owner of e-Boom Electric Bicycle Company, donated a sleek, black, low-step frame Navigator S model with brown faux leather grips. This impressive electric bicycle is made of strong, lightweight aluminum and can achieve a top speed of 25 mph with pedal assist. It’s worth noting that our library has a history with e-Boom Electric Bicycle Company. In 2018, we collaborated with Zionsville Community Schools and e-Boom to design and create an electric Book Bike, which our librarians have ridden to local schools and even featured in the Zionsville Fall Festival Parade.
2. Coleman Evanston Screened Tent from Zionsville Rotary Club
The Zionsville Rotary Club generously donated a Coleman Evanston Screened Tent that can sleep up to eight people. This fantastic prize is perfect for family camping trips or backyard adventures.
3. Youth Bicycles from Friends of the Library
Our wonderful Friends of the Library group provided youth bicycles as prizes, encouraging our younger readers to stay active while enjoying their summer reads.
These incredible donations have added extra excitement to our summer reading program, motivating participants to reach their reading goals. We’re grateful for the continued support from our community partners, who help make our programs engaging and rewarding for all participants.
4. A kayak with paddles donated by a local resident who wishes to remain anonymous
The success of this year’s summer reading program demonstrates the power of community collaboration and the shared commitment to fostering a love of reading in Zionsville.
The kayak with paddles was generously donated by a local resident who prefers to remain anonymous. This sleek and sturdy kayak is perfect for exploring our local waterways and make great adventures out of the Library.
It’s donations like this that highlight the amazing generosity within our community, making our summer reading program even more rewarding.
We look forward to building on this success and creating even more memorable experiences for our patrons in the future.
Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and contributed to making this summer reading program a triumph.
Your enthusiasm and support make the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library a vibrant hub of learning and community engagement.
