Oct 05, 2018 Staff Reads: The Life of Zarf
By Miss Julie
Calling all Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans: Read the three-part series of The Life of Zarf by local author Rob Harrell!
Middle School is tough, especially if you’re a troll, because trolls are the lowest of the low at Cotswin Middle School. Now imagine the life of a young troll named Zarf, which just happens to rhyme with barf…. You would think it couldn’t get any worse than that, but it does. Thanks to the prince — one of the popular kids — who takes great pleasure in making Zarf’s life miserable. Zarf doesn’t really have much going for him, but he has good friends and a good heart. BUT, he also has that raging troll blood inside of him that he has to try to control. Oh, boy!
Middle school students will be able to relate to the main character’s social struggles in this humorous, fractured fairy tale. This book is full of humor, adventure, and funny illustrations; it is perfectly suited for reluctant readers but will also appeal to avid readers who like a good story, like Land of Stories.
As an added bonus, the author and nationally syndicated cartoonist, Rob Harrell, will visit the Library November 15 for a fun-filled event for students in grades 1 – 5. Register your child for this awesome experience filled with funny stories, jousting, destruction, and candy! You may chose from one of three start times: 3:30 PM, 3:45 PM, or 4 PM. Every participant will be given the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Rob during the book signing at 4:30 PM!
