Free English Classes for Beginners

Free English Classes for Beginners

HMMPL is very excited to announce an English class for beginners!

Welcome Pattern, a local nonprofit organization, is being hosted by the Library to offer a 12-week English Class for Beginners. This program is designed to help individuals of all backgrounds and experiences – no prior knowledge of English is necessary. The only requirement is that you be fourteen years of age or above. This is a completely free course thanks to the generosity of Welcome Pattern.

What You Can Expect

Starting January 8th, the class will meet every Wednesday at 6:30PM at the Zionsville Branch. During the course, you’ll engage in an interactive learning experience where you will:

Build basic English skills: Learn how to introduce yourself, understand simple phrases, ask questions, and respond with confidence.

Develop speaking and listening skills: Practice conversations with other students and instructors and get real-time feedback to improve your pronunciation.

Learn reading and writing fundamentals: Start reading simple English texts and begin writing basic sentences, helping you feel more comfortable in everyday situations.

Gain confidence in your abilities: Whether you’re communicating with friends, coworkers, or the broader community, this course will help you feel more empowered to use English in your daily life.

Bring Your Device – Or Not!

If you have access to a laptop, we encourage you to bring it along. However, we understand that not everyone has a device, and that’s okay! We will accommodate you so you can still participate fully in the course. It is recommended to bring a notebook and writing utensil.
