Staff Introductions: Rhys, Teen and Adult Librarian

Get to know the HMMPL staff! Each week, we’re featuring one of our amazing staff members. This week, meet Rhys, a Librarian in the Teen and Adult Department at the Zionsville Branch. Here are a few fun facts about him.

Hobbies: Fiction writing, tabletop miniature games, cooking, biking, and video games

Favorite Book Genre: Horror

Favorite Movie/Song/Video Game: Favorite Movie: The Third Man. I’ve always had a thing for older noir movies, and this is probably my favorite. It’s probably my favorite Orson Wells performance, and it has a great atmosphere and a memorable ending.

Favorite Song: “This Year by the Mountain” Goats. John Darnielle’s band has been one of my favorite artists for a long time, and “This Year” is a song with a lot of personal meaning to me as well as being just an out and out good song.

Favorite Video Game: Baldur’s Gate III, a recent and well loved entry in a roleplaying game series I’ve played since my tween years.

Years at HMMPL: Less than 1

Favorite part of working at the Library: I honestly really enjoy the reference portion of the job. I’ve always loved helping people find whatever books and resources they find themselves in need of.

Favorite Snack: Anything with Chocolate and Peanut Butter

Where will patrons find you at the Library: Patrons will usually find me at the 2nd Floor Reference desk or in the stacks pulling holds. You will also see me at one of my programs: Wired Wednesday, Tasting and Talking Cookbook Club, and I ran a Beginner’s Dungeons and Dragons program earlier this year.
