2026 Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award

Help Your Child Vote!

Voting is now open for the 2026 Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award. Every child in Indiana ages 0 – 5 may vote one time to help choose the winner.

This year’s Firefly nominees are:

The five books were selected through a nomination process by youth librarians who work in Indiana schools or libraries.

How to Read the Books

You can find all five books in our catalog. Physical copies are available at both branches, and all but one are also available as eBooks through Libby.

You can also join Miss Alicia for a Firefly Awards Storytime at the Whitestown Branch at 10 AM Fri., June 5. Miss Alicia will read all five Firefly nominees, and children will have the chance to vote for their favorite book that day. Voting took place during the Zionsville Preschool Pals storytimes the week of April 13, as well.

How to Vote

After you read the books, ask your child to point to the one they like best, then fill out the Indiana Center for the Book’s online ballot. If your child votes during a storytime, please do not have them vote again.

Voting ends July 31. Find out more about the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award and past winners by visiting the Indiana Center for the Book website.
