Join the 1896 Society!

In May 2025, Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library invited guests of our successful Color Our World Gala to join our new 1896 Society as founding members. Thirty-nine founding members of the 1896 Society generously committed to recurring gifts at that time.

The 1896 Society, so named for the $600 gift Joseph B. Pitzer left Eagle Township to establish the township Library in 1896, continues the tradition of giving generously to sustain the library, literacy, lifetime learning, and community in Boone County.

We invite all in Boone County to join our 1896 Society!

You can join the 1896 Society by setting up recurring donations of $1,896.00, $189.60, or $18.60 to provide predictable, sustaining support for library services.

All 1896 Society donors will receive an annual donor certificate and a 1896 Society badge for virtual display. Donors contributing at least $ 1,896.00 annually will also receive a personalized donor book to display at the Whitestown Branch of the Library.

Locally recognized artist and woodworker A.J. Schnell continues to create lovely donor books, personalized to the donor’s wishes.  Andrew is a remarkable artist, a Zionsville resident, and also a meaningful supporter of our Library!  See an example here:
