Expansion Update

It’s been a busy year!

With plans for the new Whitestown Branch underway, HMMPL remains steadfast in its efforts to deliver quality programs and services to the growing community.

March/April 2021

Community surveys gave valuable insights into features, services and programs residents want in a new branch, which was shared with the krM Architecture team.

July 2021

The Bookmobile officially hit the streets with regular stops to support the new Worth Township service area, as well as Eagle & Union Townships.

Zionsville Mayor Emily Styron signed a contract that covers the cost of one Library card per household for Perry Township residents.

August 2021

The krM Architecture team delivered a design that met almost all of the community’s top 20 “wants” in a new branch and presented these designs during public open houses.

October 2021

HMMPL issued an RFP for the construction of the branch per Indiana Code 5-32.  Several competitive bids were opened in early November and the Library is in the process of finalizing a contract with SCS Construction Services of Greenwood, Indiana.

January 2022

The Town of Whitestown officially transferred 11 acres of land located at 6310 E. Albert S. White Drive to HMMPL for construction of the Whitestown Branch. The Library building will sit on about four acres, with the remaining acreage dedicated to open green space and a wooded area with existing walking paths and trails. This fantastic location is easily accessible to many residential and retail areas.

Also, this past year, more than 775 residents in Worth Township capitalized on their ability to obtain Library cards.

What’s next?

  • Finalization of the builder’s contract (Winter 2022)
  • Groundbreaking (Spring 2022)
  • HMMPL 60th Anniversary Celebration (Fall 2022)
  • Whitestown Branch opens (Spring/Summer 2023)
