Golden Gifts: Donation Drive for Seniors in Need

Golden Gifts: Donation Drive for Seniors in Need

Make the season bright for seniors in our community by participating in our annual Golden Gifts Donation Drive. Golden Gifts are simple gifts that will ensure that our seniors without abundant resources are not forgotten this season. This unique program will bring goodness and cheer to those who may feel isolated in our community during the long winter months. Last year we served over 100 residents!

The Golden Gifts Donation Drive will take place Fri., Nov. 10 – Sun., Dec. 10.  The Golden Gifts tables with the name tags will be set up near the 1st and 2nd floor Reference Desks. While a gift list may contain multiple items, you do not have to purchase all items on the tag. Plan to spend at least $20 per senior. Gifts must be new and candles are not allowed. Purchased gifts should be returned to the library unwrapped by December 10 with the list attached.  The Library will wrap and distribute the gifts to allow anonymity for our patrons.

To participate:

  1. Come to the Library and stop by a Golden Gifts table beginning Fri., Nov. 10.
  2. Choose a name tag.
  3. Take your name tag to the corresponding Reference Desk to receive their wishlist and a small treat for your generosity (while supplies last).
  4. Return gifts unwrapped with the wishlist by Sun., Dec. 10, to allow the Library time to wrap and distribute the gifts to our local seniors.
  5. If you are unable to fulfill your donation, please contact the Library so we can ensure the person’s tag is claimed.

Thank you to Boone County Senior Services for providing the names of many of our recipients.
