Jun 18, 2018 Drop Off School Supplies at the Library
Boone County Backpack United, formerly known as Backpack Attack, is here again! Along with other local agencies, the Hussey-Mayfield Public Library is again a drop-off site for school supplies for the United Way’s Backpack United collection drive. Donation boxes are located near the main entrance on both public floors and school supplies may be dropped off through July 11. Let’s work together to help children start school this fall with the tools they need to be successful. Filled backpacks will be distributed to students attending an elementary, middle, or high school in Boone County.
Backpacks have already been donated and it’s the fun stuff to put inside them that is needed now. Priority items include:
- 1” 3-ring binders
- Dry-erase markers (black & blue)
- Wide-ruled loose-leaf notebook paper
- Wide-ruled spiral notebooks (no college-rule)
- 2-pocket folders
- Wide-ruled composition notebooks
- #2 pencils
- Highlighters
- Boys & Girls underwear
- Boys & Girls socks
Also needed:
- Index cards
- Post-it Notes
- Colored pencils (12-count)
- Ziploc bags (quart size)
- Tissues
- Hand sanitizers
So, come to the Library and pick up a shopping list from one of the donation boxes. While you’re out shopping in the next few weeks, pick up some extra school supplies from the list and drop them off at the Hussey-Mayfield Library. United Way volunteers will use them to fill backpacks for kids who need them. If you have questions about Backpack Attack, please contact Amy Hammerle at (765) 483-0165 or amy.hammerle@uwci.org.
