Calling all readers!  We invite you to join us as we COLOR OUR WORLD for Summer Reading at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library!

Whether your literary canvas is already vibrant and filled with color or you’re just dipping your paint brush into your bookish palette, there’s something for everyone this summer at the Library!

DATES 

Summer Reading starts on Sat., June 1 and continues through Wed., July 31, but registration is already open! 

REGISTRATION 

The registration for Summer Reading is open!  Register any time before July 31 to record your reading and apply it toward the Summer Reading Program. 

You can register through this link or download the Beanstack app on your phone to track your reading. 

RECORD YOUR READING 

We measure how much you read by hours read.  To complete the program and be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing, you must complete 15 hours of reading between June 1 and July 31. 

It’s easy to get there! If you read 15 minutes a day for 60 days, you will have read 900 minutes, or 15 hours. 

Why is it important to track your reading? Because books read means prizes! 

To qualify for prizes, you need to submit your reading time through Beanstack.

READ AND EARN PRIZES 

The more you read, the more prizes you receive!  Record your reading time on Beanstack and when you hit a reading level, you will receive a badge that says you earned a reward.  Prize levels are for 1, 5, 10, and 15 hours of reading.

PRIZE MARKET OPENS JUNE 9

There is a Prize Market at each branch.  The Zionsville Branch Prize Market is on the 2nd Floor, near the Teen and Adult reference desk.  The Whitestown Branch Prize Market is between the stacks in the atrium area straight ahead upon entering the Library. 

1 Hour Prize: a 2-pack of children’s large chalk, a multi-color pen with googly eyes, or a wooden keychain custom engraved in our Maker Studio with the HMMPL logo. While supplies last. 

5, 10, and 15 hours: Come to our Prize Market and choose one item from our Prize Menu from these different categories: 

• Brag Tags 

• Books 

• Food coupons and snacks 

• Grab bags 

• Small gadgets and gizmos – for example, a sticker or a small art kit 

 VIRTUAL DRAWINGS

Participants will earn virtual tickets for each hour read and logged – up to 100 hours/tickets. Enter virtual tickets into prize drawings on Beanstack through July 31.  Winners will be notified after July 31.

A CHANCE TO WIN A GRAND PRIZE 

All readers who read and record 15 hours of reading on Beanstack will be entered into the chance to win a Grand Prize! We have several Grand Prize Options this year. This means that there will be 6 Grand Prize winners!  This year, our Grand Prizes are generously donated by the Karen Beard Memorial Literacy Fund.

KICK OFF PARTIES

JOIN US for our Summer Reading Kick Off Party!

This year, the Kick Off parties will be held at the same time, same date at both Whitestown and Zionsville.

Join us at EITHER BRANCH on Tuesday, June 3 from 4 – 7 PM to celebrate Summer Reading with fun, games, treats and community!  We will be treating registered Summer Readers to a FREE KONA ICE treat!
