Branch Building Updates

The exterior brickwork is wrapped up and looks fantastic! Plus, the concrete work is complete and metal siding is going up.  The photos below really show the look and feel of this new branch as these complimentary materials come together!  Window work also continues.  The large window in the photo below shows the view out of the Teen area onto the patio space and beyond into the woods.

While these building progression milestones are exciting to see, we have encountered a variety of supply chain issues that will slightly delay building completion.

Grand Opening pushed to first quarter 2024

The planned opening of Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library’s second location in Whitestown will be pushed back to the first quarter of 2024, due to a combination of unavoidable construction delays.

The HMMPL Whitestown Branch is currently under construction at 6310 E. Albert S. White Drive. “Though we are a little disappointed by the delayed opening, we understand the current construction market and are grateful to krM, SCS and the many library staff who have been working hard for years to make sure the new branch will be a warm and welcoming addition to the community,” said Molly Hanlon, Library Board President.

Library staff continue to purchase books and materials for the new branch and organize a fun grand opening celebration for the whole community to enjoy. Details will be shared once a final opening date is confirmed.
