Feb 10, 2021 krM Architecture to Design New Library Branch
The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (HMMPL) Board of Trustees has approved the selection of Indianapolis-based krM Architecture to design its new branch in Whitestown, Indiana.
krM was one of eight architectural firms asked to submit a Request for Qualifications last December. After a thorough review of submissions and online interview sessions with three finalists, HMMPL Expansion Committee members selected krM to oversee the project. The HMMPL Board of Trustees formally approved the decision on January 21, 2021.
krM has worked on 16 major Indiana library projects in the past five years, including the design of the Michigan Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library system, the Sugar Creek branch of the Hancock County Public Library and the West Lafayette Public Library. krM is located in Indianapolis, with 90 percent of their work within Central Indiana. Additionally, krM has collaborated with many esteemed local engineering firms, including Indianapolis-based JQOL and CMTA, with whom they will work on the new Whitestown Branch.
HMMPL formally expanded its service area to include Worth Township last August. Residents may register for a Library Card online at https://bit.ly/HMMPLcard. The HMMPL Expansion Committee and an advisory group comprised of Worth Township residents is currently evaluating potential sites for the building with hopes of having the new branch built and open by late 2022. Public input will be solicited from area residents in the coming months to help guide the design of the new facility.
