Get to know the HMMPL staff! Each week, we’re featuring one of our amazing staff members. This week, meet Lydia, the Outreach Services Department Head. Here are a few fun facts about her.
Hobbies: photography, drawing, nature strolls
Favorite Book Genre: This is so hard! If I must choose, I would say horror/thriller.
Favorite Movie: The Mummy (1999). I watched it for the first time in elementary school, and it kickstarted my interest in history. For those who don’t know, it is an adventure/romance film with undead villains and a musical score that is superb.
Favorite Song: My current favorite is “Blood and Glitter” by Lord of the Lost. It is a metal/ glam rock song about celebrating who you are.
Favorite Video Game: Dead Space (the original and the remake). Darkness. Isolation. A space ship filled with grotesque, mutated crew members. Great game for those who like horror and action.
Years at HMMPL: 4
Favorite part of working at the Library: Being able to contribute to someone’s happiness everyday is my favorite part. When I help someone find the book they’ve been searching for. When I watch a toddler squeal with delight when they step on the Bookmobile for the first time. When I show someone how to video chat with their grandkids. There is always a little magic for me to bask in each day. Not many jobs provide those opportunities.
Favorite Snack: Chocolate-covered espresso beans.
Where will patrons find you at the Library: Patrons will most likely find me behind the wheel of the Bookmobile. Wave if you see me!
