STEM kit
STEM Discovery Kits

Our STEM Discovery Kits offer hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math, featuring 3D printing, Snap Circuits, CODE Mouse, Lego WeDo, Scratch coding, and more, thanks to the support from IEEE Region 4 SKPL, the HMMPL Library Foundation, and Friends of the Library.

Maker Kits

These maker kits contain all the tools and supplies you need to get started learning and exploring a new craft and create a small craft project! The tools need to be returned to the library, but the supplies are yours to keep!

Sensory Bags

Thanks to a grant from the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library Foundation, patrons and visitors to the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library now have access to Sensory Bags during Library visits. Each Sensory Bag includes the following:

  • 1  5- or 7-lb weighted blanket
  • 1 set of noise cancelling headphones
  • 1 fidget spinner/popper
  • 1 monkey noodle
  • 1 spikey ball
Museum Passes

With your HMMPL card, you have access to free passes for admission to these three local museums: Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg Museum, and Indiana Historical Society!

Corn Hole

This set consists of two lightweight plastic library branded cornhole boards which fasten together for transportation, 2 detachable legs per board, and 2 sets of beanbags.

Baking Pans

Explore our collection of borrowable baking pans!  You can find a number of baking pans on the second floor in front of the conference hub. Pans check out for one week and are holdable!

Hot Spot

Hotspots provide convenient, portable internet access, allowing patrons to connect devices to the internet throughout the US at home, the park, on vacation, or wherever! Read about how our mobile hot spots work!

Technology (In Library Use Only)

These items are available to help meet your technological needs in the library and can be borrowed for use on library property.

Special Olympics Backpack

Filled with inclusive activities for children, these backpacks were created through Special Olympics Young Athletes, a program to develop social, cognitive and motor skills in children 2 to 7 years old with and without intellectual disabilities.

Book Basket

These baskets were provided by the Friends of the Library and may be checked out by patrons to carry home their materials.

Laptops

HMMPL patrons the option to check out a laptop for in Library use!

Umbrella

These umbrellas are provided by the library as a courtesy to library patrons. Keep yourself and your library materials dry or protect yourself from the sun!

Seed packets
Seed Library

The seasonal Seed Library offers nearly 100 varieties of seeds to choose from for your garden for free! It is a great way to try out new plant varieties, brush up on your gardening skills, or simply help you get started on your seed growing journey without the cost of purchasing seeds yourself.

Mamava

The Mamava is a freestanding lactation space providing a quiet, private area for nursing or pumping moms to feed or pump while at the Library.  You can find the Mamava in Youth Services.

Indianapolis Zoo Discount

We have a special offer for our community through our partnership with the Indianapolis Zoo. By using the Library’s customized link to purchase tickets online, you can save over 30% on admission costs for youth and adults. The discount is even good for special Zoo events, including the upcoming ZooBoo and Christmas at the Zoo.
